Advertised Employing Department: Facilities Planning & Management Summary of Duties and Responsibilities: Facilities Planning and Management at Iowa State University is seeking qualified candidates for a Construction Manager position which will be filled at either a level II or III. This position will provide construction management services for small to moderate size capital projects for renovation or new construction of campus facilities. Responsibilities include acting as the Owner's Representative during the construction phase of assigned projects. The position is responsible for management, coordination, and construction administration services during the construction phase of capital construction projects. Additionally, the Construction Manager observes work in progress to assure that the installation of materials and equipment is in accordance with contract documents, applicable codes and university standards. At any one time a Construction Manager is responsible for management and oversight of multiple simultaneous small to moderate sized projects with aggregate project budgets totaling up to $2 million. In addition to the duties above, the Construction Manager III will be expected to handle moderate to large capital projects up to $80 million. The incumbent would be expected to handle these projects with more autonomy and with substantial ingenuity. The successful candidate will possess good communication skills, strong analytical and organizational skills, be detail oriented, and have the ability to lead diverse project teams with conflicting interests, needs or requirements; and manage multiple projects simultaneously. ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT: Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of related experience; OR a combination of education and related experience totaling 6 years.
