The MIT Department of Facilities’ Utilities Group seeks a Senior Project Manager to apply diverse knowledge of engineering principles and practices in the areas of power plant and utility distribution. Will represent the department and Institute with clients and policy makers to resolve internal, external, and public challenges; consult with clients for facility requirements; develop scope of possible solutions; manage and develop project plans for complex, moderate to large-scale design and construction projects; identify and coordinate with necessary regulatory groups; coordinate general contractors/construction managers, engineers/architects, material suppliers, and subcontractors on project deliverables, quality, specifications, and materials; resolve disputes and obstacles; review bids and contracts; prepare correspondence, reports, and project records; identify process improvements and report on consistent project standards and quality metrics; work with hourly labor force; assist contractors and operating personnel. The Senior Project Manager will manage engineering professionals and administrative, architectural, and construction staff; independently resolve complex issues and recognize when to escalate; and give presentations and prepare written reports; persuade, influence, negotiate, and form alliances; and listen to other opinions and incorporate into the work plan.
