We are searching for a Construction Superintendent is a contracted position providing expertise and advisement for assigned capital projects within Scion’s portfolio of student housing communities. This position is responsible for onsite construction supervision including quality assurance, safety compliance, assisting with budgeting and bidding, interpreting blueprints, performing take-offs, and estimating costs. The Construction Superintendent is responsible for ensuring feasibility and consistency with Scion’s standards regarding all technical specifications and will collaborate with various people for successful execution.

Responsibilities: 

• Collaborates with the corporate Facilities and Capital team and property management personnel to determine project requirements.
• Ensures personnel have access to the appropriate equipment and materials for each project.
• Directs day-to-day construction activities and provides constructive feedback to ensure mandated or contractual deadlines, budgets and quality standards are met.
• Proactively communicates project updates to Property Management and Capital Projects teams and establishes fluid communication.
• Assists with maintaining organizational compliance with Venture governance expectations regarding bidding and contracting process.
• Ensures both OSHA and Scion’s and safety and security standards are met at each construction site for the entirety of the project. Maintains current knowledge of local quality, safety and health guidelines for each job site.

Qualifications

• Committed to excellence and high standards.
• College graduate preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience. A degree in Engineering, Construction Management or similar field is preferred.
• At least 5 years of previous construction and supervisory experience, preferably within the student housing or a similar multi-family sector.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness and ability to travel 50% or more in a year.
• Obtains a valid driver’s license.
• Flexible, thrives in a fast-paced environment and is comfortable with quickly re-prioritizing.
• Values and fosters a sensitive and supportive approach to a diverse working and living environment.
