The Occupational Health Psychology Lab (Dr. Ryan Olson, PI) is seeking candidates for a full-time research assistant position. Dr. Olson's research is focused on safety, health, and well-being interventions for isolated workers in dangerous or demanding occupations. Dr. Olsons projects include research on injury prevention and health promotion programs with commercial truck and bus drivers, as well as other working populations. Please See Dr. Olsons lab page for more information on current projects. The Occupational Health Psychology Lab is located within the Oregon Institute of Occupational Health Sciences at OHSU. This is a grant-funded position dedicated primarily to health and safety intervention research with commercial drivers. The initial term of employment will be 12 months, but with potential for renewal/extension at the end of the fiscal year. The position is full-time. The individual who fills this position will contribute to the Tech4Rest Study funded by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, through the Oregon Healthy Workforce Center (OHWC), and to the SHIFT Onboard Study funded by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute. The Tech4Rest study is a randomized controlled trial of engineering controls and behavioral interventions to improve the sleep-health of commercial team truck drivers. The SHIFT Onboard study is also a randomized controlled trial of an enhancedonboarding training for new bus operators. Travel to field sites to meet participants and collect data will be a primary duty for this position. However, as a member of the lab, the research assistant may also contribute to other projects on a limited basis.

Working conditions: Working hours of this position will vary but are mostly M-F and 8-5 with occasional evenings and weekends. The location of work will vary from worksites (in the field) and at OHSU. Physical demands & equipment usage: Computer work, standing and sitting while using a computer, interacting with research participants (including collecting physical measurements and installation of equipment in trucks), and completing lab experiments. Driving to field research sites (in personal or OHSU-rented/owned vehicle). Carrying and moving equipment ranging from very light to 100 lbs with the assistance of hand trucks and/or co-workers.
