Mor-Gran-Sou Electric Cooperative, Inc. (MGS) is a member-owned grassroots organization serving member-consumers residing in Morton, Grant, and Sioux counties in south central North Dakota. The electric transmission and distribution cooperative has service centers in Flasher, Fort Yates, and Mandan.
MGS has an opening for an Operations Manager. This position provides efficient and effective leadership of the Cooperative in the construction, operation, and maintenance of the utility plant, including budgets and long-range plans. The Operations Manager will also play a key role in developing and directing programs that will assure members safe and reliable electric service. The cooperative business model of working together for the greater good and doing our best as a team to serve our members, is the heart of the job.

To perform effectively in this position, a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in engineering or construction management is required. Journeyman lineman experience and progressive management experience in lieu of formal education may be considered. A minimum of eight (8) years of increasing responsible experience in electric utility system design, construction, and operation is required, preferably with a consumer-owned utility system. A minimum of three (3) years of experience in managing the work of others, and maintaining effective relationships, both within and outside the organization, is required. Additional specialized training in electric utility system design, operation and evaluation via seminars and special courses is important. A master’s degree in business administration is desirable.
