The Construction Manager is an important position responsible for the leadership, stewardship, and supervision of fulfilling company store construction objectives. You will ensure new, remodeled, and closing stores are completed on time, efficiently and in compliance with state/federal/local building covenants, and that all applicable permits and licenses are secured prior to construction and in a manner that assures the highest level of customer service exceeding customer expectations.
Contribute to the success of the Company by performing strategic cost analysis on building objectives, minimizing corporate expenses and the cost of complying with building regulations. Provide cost effective recommendations to assist the corporation in improving the look and functionality of the stores and corporate offices.
Evaluate all major construction projects for cost effectiveness, timeliness and skillset to determine whether to subcontract the work or complete the work directly.
Develop and maintain key relationships with vendors to ensure favorable company terms and solicit, review and negotiate bids that achieve corporate objectives and ensure products meet or exceed specifications.
In conjunction with Executive Management, advise, develop, plan and coordinate the design and construction of “upscale” cost effective stores.
Stay abreast of building trends and regulations to ensure effectiveness and compliance for the construction functions.
Responsible for the on-going maintenance of stores and corporate offices.
Responsible for ensuring the corporate office and store locations are in compliance with OSHA regulations.
Responsible for maintaining current records regarding fire inspections, location of fire extinguishers and other safety related expenses.
Coordinate with tenant representatives and local government officials to ensure timely, efficient and without incident construction objectives.
Communicate and coordinate with internal partners to ensure efficiency.
Perform all special projects as directed by the executive team.
Conduct business affairs in a legal and ethical manner, building a socially conscious environment.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management or on-the-job-experience commensurate with educational requirements.
Ten years’ experience in managing retail construction projects.
Experience with hands-on construction skills including carpentry, cabinetry, roofing, siding, painting, flooring, electric work and plumbing.
Proof of valid, clear driver’s license and insurance required.
Computer proficient; Microsoft Office, and AS400.
Must be organized and able to work as a team associate.
