Under administrative direction, the Airport Project Manager oversees the planning, design and construction of a wide variety of projects including but not limited to the construction or maintenance of facilities, structures, roadways, runways, taxiways, harbors and various airport systems. They oversee the design and construction process from conceptualization to completion. This includes oversight of design and construction management consultants, contractors, and coordination with various entities including the inspection team, airport and harbor stakeholders, City of Cleveland officials and regulatory agencies such as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the Transportation and Security Administration (TSA) and the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (OEPA).
A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or closely related field from an accredited four year college or university (or equivalent as determined by the Ohio Board of Registration of Professional Engineering and Surveyors) is required, a Master's Degree is preferred. Two years of full time paid general engineering experience is required. (Substitution: Two years of full time experience may substitute for each year of college education lacking.) A valid State of Ohio Driver's License is required. Must have a Professional Engineer's License.
- Desired Engineering experience in the area of Electrical Power Engineering or a Mechanical HVAC Engineering
- Must be highly organized, detail oriented, have the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
- Must have strong management, interpersonal, negotiating, verbal and written communication skills to build a strong rapport and productive relationships with colleagues, executive leadership and stakeholders.
- Must be computer proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite and have basic knowledge of AutoCAD.
- NIMS and ICS certifications for General Employee tier and any assigned working groups must be completed within six months of employment and complete additional or refresher trainings as required.
- Must have a demonstrated ability to work in a diverse and inclusive environment that fosters non-discrimination.
- A valid State of Ohio Driver’s License is required.
- Must successfully complete a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) 10 year fingerprint-based Criminal History Records Check and employment background check and Security Threat Assessment.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug test.
- Must attend all required trainings and demonstrate comprehension to obtain Ground Vehicle Operator Movement Credentialing within the first six months of employment and maintain these credentials for the duration of their employment.
- Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 35 pounds.
- In-depth knowledge of FAA Advisory Circulars, Building Codes, and project management best practices. Exceptional research, planning, problem solving, critical thinking and math skills, excellent presentation, collaboration, and verbal and written communication skills.
- Project Management or Construction Management Certifications (e.g. Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification, Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM), etc.).
- Master’s Degree in Engineering or closely related field from an accredited college or university.
- Working knowledge of project management software, such as Microsoft Project.
- Experience in aviation/airport design and construction.
- Experience working with the Federal Aviation Administration.
- Experience working with projects that are subject to governmental procurement processes.
