Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (“CLE”, or the “Airport”) and Cleveland Buke Lakefront Airport (“BKL”) are owned by the City of Cleveland (the “City”) and operated by the City of Cleveland Department of Port Control (“DPC”). Today, CLE is Ohio’s busiest airport, serving more than 10 million passengers annually and generating $3.5 billion in annual economic development. It is positioned within 500 miles of 43 percent of the U.S. population. The Department of Port Control directly employs approximately 400 employees at the airports, but the system plays host to a further 9,000 on-airport jobs. In mid-2022, Robert Kennedy, the former Director of Port Control retired after an impactful and successful tenure of five years. As a result, the city has named an interim acting Director while it undertakes a national search for its new Director of Port Control.
CLE is close to finalizing the new $2 billion Master Plan. The incoming Director will have direct and significant influence on the creation of the plan and ultimate execution. The Director must have a combined record of highly successful senior program development, planning, designing and construction management career, with a demonstrated capability of personnel leadership and staff management in the successful completion of complex planning, design and construction projects under budget and within project schedule. He/she will have the ability to exercise sound managerial judgment and a proven record in the interdisciplinary collaboration in the planning, design, environmental clearance and construction management with large scale construction projects. As an additional career complement, the top candidate will also have experience in leading teams responsible for facilities planning and design, budget control, and construction scheduling. Knowledge of major transportation facility planning, construction and administration as well as environmental rules and regulations is desired.
