ABOUT THE ROLE: This position performs complex professional work in the overall coordination and management of the Department. The job involves providing leadership for the entire development process, providing technical and procedural guidance to staff, leading the County’s development agencies budget efforts, supervising, coaching, and mentoring professional, administrative, and technical support staff in carrying out general policies.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or G.E.D. and 8 years of related experience.
PREFERENCES: The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, planning, business administration or related field, accompanied with eight years of progressively responsible experience in a development-based department, such as, Planning, Development Services, Public Works, and Transportation. The experience will include senior level management and supervisory level experience. The ideal candidate will have leadership experience managing a variety of comprehensive programs.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: The position will work in the Emergency Operations Center during significant events (i.e. weather) and will lead the Damage Assessment function. The candidate will need to possess FEMA Incident Command System training.
WORK SCHEDULE: The normal work schedule is Monday – Friday (7.5 hours per day). The position requires attendance at numerous evenings and on occasion weekend events. The position is also required to work and lead the Damage Assessment section in the Emergency Operations Center, which will require work after hours.
