Teaching faculty at Guilford Technical Community College are responsible for supporting student success by creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, developing curriculum courses, modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff, supporting college administrative requirements, and maintaining competency in their instructional field. He/she will be responsible for quality instruction and for effective participation and interest in the total affairs of the college
The Truck Driver Training (TDT) Instructor's responsibilities include preparing and providing instruction to Truck Driver training learners, mentoring adjunct instructors, assisting with the development of new program pathways, and acting as one of the instructional leaders of the Truck Driver Training programs. This person will also assist with student recruitment, follow-up, and other duties as needed for the Truck Driver Training program. Under general supervision of the Director of the TDT program, the Instructor will supervise and train students in proper driving techniques and safety requirements in accordance with FMCSA and NC DMV regulations. The instructor will administer commercial driver's license (CDL) testing as a third-party examiner (if certified) for the State of North Carolina. The Instructor will perform mainly instructional work; teaching classes, instructing students in school equipment, preparing class schedules, counseling and advising students, other duties as needed and required. This position requires flexible work days and weekends occasionally.
Education Required:
High School diploma or equivalent
Current Class A CDL License and Long form physical or NC Waiver
Education Preferred:
CDL Third party Examiner certification from North Carolina
Experience Required:
Minimum 3 years working as a CDL-A Truck Driver
At least one year of Truck Driver Training teaching experience.
Experience Preferred:
5 years working as a CDL-A Truck Driver preferred.
2 years of Truck Driver Training teaching experience preferred.
